The delegation of UK parliament visits AFR on July 27,2015

Honorable Nigel Evans MP, Co-Chairperson of the United Kingdom Parliamentary Taiwan-British Group, led the delegation of 12 members of the Lower House of the UK and made an official visit to the Association of Foreign Relations (AFR) on July 27, 2015.

Honorable Nigel Evans MP, Co-Chairperson of the United Kingdom Parliamentary Taiwan-British Group, led the delegation of 12 members of the Lower House of the UK and made an official visit to the Association of Foreign Relations (AFR) on July 27, 2015.
 
The meeting was hosted by AFR Vice Chairperson Ambassador Louis W.H. Tzen (former Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK), alongside with AFR members and scholars, including Ambassador Mien-Shen Hsu (AFR Board Director and Vice President of the Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs of ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs), AFR Secretary- general Kwei-Bo Huang, AFR Deputy Secretary-General Judy T.F.Chang, Professors Bih-Jaw Lin and Mei-Chuan Wei of National Chengchi University, as well as Professor Wei-Hwa Chen of Ming-Chuan University.
 
Honorable Evans was once Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons between 2010 and 2013, and has visited Taiwan twice. In his opening remarks, Honorable Evans indicated that this was the largest delegation ever comparing to their previous visits. Vice Chairperson Tzen extended AFR’s gratitude to the delegation’s call on AFR.
 
During the 1-hour meeting, both parties focused on discussing cross-Strait relations in the realms of politics, economic and security, as well as such topics as Taiwan-UK bilateral trade and the Hong Kong model and its future.
