On February 17, 2018, Ambassador Michel Ching-long Lu, director of the Association of Foreign Relations, shared his experience of promoting Taiwan and its bilateral ties with France (through glove puppetry or Budaixi) during his 16-year assignment to France on Jeng Chin FTV. The section of the video could be found from 1:05:34 to 1:14:19. Ambassador Lu also shared his observations of how the French people generally view and cope with cultural differences in addition to the topics of cross-cultural communication and cultural education (1:28:14-1:28:38 & 1:30:54-1:31:32).
The city of Bussy-Saint-Georges located to the east of Paris named an alley next to the city library (Allée Michel Ching-long Lu) after Ambassador Lu in appreciation of his dedication to facilitating the bilateral ties between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and France. It was the first road in France to be named after a Chinese person. The national flag of the Republic of China was also raised on that day.
